Karmann, the century-old German coachbuilder synonymous with cabrios and the famous 1950s Karmann Ghia, has filed for insolvency. The company made the move Wednesday in Germany in response to a dramatic decline in revenue, an inability to pay for its massive layoff plan and the worldwide economic crisis. But that’s about to change as Jaguar has decided to debut their new sports car at this year’s Lord Mayor’s Show in London on 10th November. But just to make sure there’s an added bit of kudos for the new F-Type as it drives along London’s City Streets, Jaguar has roped in Olympic golden girl Jessica Ennis to cast a bit of the residual fairy dust from this year’s summer of sport with a photocall before the show and Jess behind the wheel as the Lord Mayor’s procession takes to the streets.

Tesco Cars closed for business A year after launching Tesco Cars in conjunction with Carsite, Tesco reveals it is to close the used car operation. Tesco Cars was one of the latest Tesco sideways moves to use its vast revenues to dominate more and more business sectors in the UK. But it’s come to an ignominious end just twelve months after it was launched, piggy-backing on the existing Carsite business to try and flog used cars to customers who would rather deal with a big supermarket than a back street car lot.
